Christians in Science: Breaking the False Divide

There are many claims—especially from some voices in the Hindi and Buddhist community—that to truly follow science, Christians must reject the Bible. They argue that Christians are hypocrites when they identify with both faith and science, insisting that it is impossible to live by the Bible and also practice scientific inquiry.

But this claim is built on a misunderstanding. The Bible does not reject scientific knowledge or formulas. In fact, Scripture never sets itself up as a scientific manual—it points to God as the Creator and invites people to seek wisdom and truth in the world He made. Discoveries in nature, physics, or medicine are not in conflict with Christian faith; they are reflections of the order and design woven into creation.

Labeling Christians as “hypocrites” for being scientists only exposes the mentality of those making the accusation. It relies on fallacies and ignores history. From Isaac Newton to Gregor Mendel, many of the greatest scientific minds were Christians who saw no contradiction between faith in God and the pursuit of knowledge.

Instead of rejecting science, Christianity has historically fueled it—founding universities, supporting hospitals, and encouraging open inquiry. The real divide is not between the Bible and science, but between truth and ignorance.

Christians are scientific and followers of the BIBLE at the same time

The Bible is not a science textbook—it is a book of purpose, a divine letter addressed to humanity. Its focus is not on explaining scientific phenomena, but on guiding human life, describing the natural order in everyday terms, and recording moments of divine intervention in history. The Bible speaks about the meaning of life and humanity’s role on earth, not about formulas or laboratory methods. Because of this, it neither rejects nor misunderstands scientific activity. Most of its content is historical record and prophetic vision, not scientific theory. This leaves Christians free and open to embrace new discoveries and inventions, seeing them as part of God’s creation. What matters is not whether something is new, but whether it supports human dignity or works against it.

विज्ञान में मसीही: झूठे विभाजन को तोड़ते हुए

लेकिन यह दावा गलतफहमी पर आधारित है। बाइबल वैज्ञानिक ज्ञान या सूत्रों को अस्वीकार नहीं करती। वास्तव में, बाइबल कभी भी स्वयं को एक विज्ञान की किताब के रूप में प्रस्तुत नहीं करती। यह ईश्वर को सृष्टिकर्ता के रूप में दिखाती है और लोगों को प्रोत्साहित करती है कि वे संसार की सच्चाई और ज्ञान को खोजें। प्रकृति, भौतिकी या चिकित्सा में की गई खोजें मसीही विश्वास के खिलाफ नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे सृष्टि में बुने गए क्रम और डिजाइन का प्रमाण हैं।

मसीहियों को "पाखंडी" कहना केवल उन लोगों की मानसिकता को उजागर करता है जो यह आरोप लगाते हैं। यह तर्क भ्रांतियों (fallacies) पर आधारित है और इतिहास को नजरअंदाज करता है। आइज़क न्यूटन से लेकर ग्रेगर मेंडेल तक, इतिहास के कई महान वैज्ञानिक मसीही थे, जिन्होंने कभी विश्वास और विज्ञान के बीच कोई विरोधाभास नहीं देखा।

सच तो यह है कि ईसाई धर्म ने विज्ञान को अस्वीकार नहीं किया बल्कि उसे आगे बढ़ाया—विश्वविद्यालयों की स्थापना, अस्पतालों की सेवा और खुले शोध को प्रोत्साहित करके। वास्तविक विभाजन बाइबल और विज्ञान के बीच नहीं है, बल्कि सत्य और अज्ञानता के बीच है।

बाइबल कोई विज्ञान की पाठ्यपुस्तक नहीं है—यह उद्देश्य की पुस्तक है, ईश्वर का पत्र जो मनुष्यों को संबोधित करता है। इसका ध्यान वैज्ञानिक घटनाओं को समझाने पर नहीं है, बल्कि मानव जीवन को दिशा देने, प्राकृतिक क्रम का सरल शब्दों में वर्णन करने और इतिहास में समय-समय पर हुई ईश्वरीय हस्तक्षेपों को दर्ज करने पर है। बाइबल जीवन के अर्थ और मनुष्य की पृथ्वी पर भूमिका के बारे में बोलती है, न कि प्रयोगशालाओं के सूत्रों के बारे में।

इसी कारण यह न तो विज्ञान को अस्वीकार करती है और न ही उसका गलत अर्थ निकालती है। इसकी अधिकांश सामग्री ऐतिहासिक घटनाओं और भविष्यवाणी पर केंद्रित है, न कि वैज्ञानिक सिद्धांतों पर। यही कारण है कि मसीही नए आविष्कारों और खोजों को स्वतंत्रता से स्वीकार करते हैं, क्योंकि सब कुछ ईश्वर की सृष्टि का ही हिस्सा है। हमारे लिए प्रश्न यह नहीं है कि कोई चीज़ नई है या नहीं, बल्कि यह कि क्या वह मानवता के लिए सहायक है या उसके खिलाफ।
